Alexandre Sion is appointed President of the OAB/MG Infrastructure Law Commission

08/05/2013

The need for strong investments in Infrastructure in Brazil has stirred the media, technical discussion forums and speeches from the executive branch and the business community in recent years. Investment in this sector – there seems to be a consensus – is essential for the country to continue growing. Alongside public investment in Infrastructure, whose goals have accompanied the general concern with the issue, the private sector needs to invest heavily in this segment to make its projects viable in the various branches of the economy, such as Mining, Steel, Energy, Civil Construction, Oil & Gas and Logistics.

The enormous challenges that accompany such investments have significant legal implications, whose adequate treatment is essential to enable the implementation of projects in the country.

Aware of the steps that need to be faced and the obstacles that need to be legally overcome so that Brazil does not interrupt its growth march, the OAB/MG, through its president Luís Cláudio Chaves and his advisors, decided to create the Right to Infrastructure intended to debate and contribute to legal issues related to the topic.

To preside over this Commission, the founding partner of Sion Advogados, Alexandre Sion, received the honorable invitation and the enormous challenge.
